Newcastle United should swoop for Everton’s Oumar Niasse

As Newcastle United continues to search for a striker, Everton’s Oumar Niasse would be a quality signing.

While Newcastle United and Rafa Benitez have secured five signings this summer, the position they most desire an addition at is still unaddressed. Since last season, it was known Rafa wanted to bring on extra talent at striker. Dwight Gayle lit up the Championship last season, but hasn’t proven those skills translate to the Premier League. Aleksandar Mitrovic is wildly inconsistent and Daryl Murphy left for Nottingham Forest. While there have been big money moves for target forwards this summer, Newcastle may be able to add Oumar Niasse for a bargain.
Niasse signed a four and a half year deal at Everton last February. Since then, he’s made five appearances for the Toffees and spent last season on loan with Hull City, who declined picking up his permanent option after being relegated. The Senegalese striker scored four goals in 17 matches.
He is only 27 years old and Everton will not be expecting to make back the full 13.5 million he signed for originally. His option to buy for Hull City was reported to be 10 million. While his inexperience at the EPL level is similar to Gayle, he could blossom into a star given a full chance to showcase his talents. Niasse has blazing speed and good awareness at the top of the formation. He also has international experience with Senegal.
While more expensive options exist, Niasse is a quality player at a premium price. Newcastle should get more bang for their buck and sign him outright or set up a loan to buy move.
